42 years ago - Broot Charis-Nar is born.
22 years ago - 20-year-old Broot marries Kattayan-Besh.
18 years ago - 24-year-old Broot's son is born.
11 years ago - 31-year-old Broot's home planet is targeted by the Citadel, who send Gordonian slaves to collect Changralyn children to work an off-world mine. Broot refuses to let them take his son. The boy is killed, & in his rage Broot violates scripture & kills the slaver. A nuclear strike is ordered, & he is taken to a prison planet.
1 year ago - 41-year-old Broot finds his wife Kattayan-Besh preaching to other Changralyns in the mines. She is freed, but they cannot be together because of his violent lifestyle.
now - 42-year-old Broot decides to abandon violence to be with Kattayan-Besh, but he is killed in a strike by Lady Styx's forces before he can find her.
Broot would simply be the Omega Men's obligatory giant strong character, except for the interesting ideas about his religion. He is a devoutly religious person and if forbidden from acting violently. This means that he is living as a heretic, but is doing so because of the death of his son.
This i, in itself just a clever bit of backstory until the realization that his wife is still alive, and that his heresy is keeping them apart. Knowing that our version of the story would need one of the original Omega Men to be killed by Lady Styx to have them join Adam Strange's new team, we created the idea that Broot has chosen to renounce violence and rejoin his wife before his death.
