While dawn was simply a part of Manitou Raven's character, she was a very clever one. Being from a far distant era, their relationship functioned in a very different way than any marriage that we might be comfortable with; as a gesture of kinship with Superman, Raven offers to allow him to sleep with her. It's immediately barbaric and a little offputting, but that was exactly the dynamic they were going for with Raven.
In the pages of Justice League Elite, the character of Dawn was expanded, sort of. She was adapting to her new life in our time, but this was done by making her feel unfulfilled in her marriage and beginning a sexual relationship with Green Arrow. While I'm in favor of her wanting to test and expand the boundaries of her role in her relationship as defined by the ancient practices of their culture, I really don't think the way to do that is to use her as the latest sexual conquest for one of DC's most notorious Lotharios. Rather, I'd like to see her considerable magical talents expanded on BEFORE her husband has to die. in fact, ideally, I'd like to see him not have to die at all, but rather watch the two of them adopt a relationship that features more mutual respect and equality... not all at once, because that's not interesting, but rather a gradual expansion of their understanding of each other's place in the relationship. This can even be mirrored by Dawn's growing magical power. While for now, she's still in the position as Raven's wife and assistant, I'd be very interested in seeing her become a new and powerful addition to some future super-team.
