11 years ago - Damien Wayne is born in the League of Assassins citadel, the son of Talia Al Ghul and Bruce Wayne
7 years ago - 4-year-old Damien Wayne survives an assassination attempt from Nyssa Al Ghul. He is moved by Ra's Al Ghul from the League of Assassins Citadel to one of it's castles, where his training continues in earnest.
now - 11-year-old Damien Wayne escapes from the League of Assassins castle when it is raided by Tim Drake during his search for Bruce Wayne. He steals a Robin uniform, claiming the title for himself. When the Joker returns to Gotham and tries to prove that the current Batman (Dick Grayson) isn't the real one, Damien stops him and beats him with a crowbar.
Whether or not the child conceived by Bruce and Talia back in the 1987 story Son of the Demon was canonical was always up in the air, so naturally it was the very first plot Grant Morrison tackled. He was a hard sell, and I fought him every step of the way, but ultimately Damian was too cool not to love. He couldn't be more different than the Robins that came before him, but his arrogance, ruthlessness and naivete combine to make a character that completely revitalized the mythos. They promptly killed him, because of course they did.
Our retooling of the timeline made it necessary to scroll back his story a little bit, so we're only just at the beginning of his time as Robin, with him working alongside both Tim Drake and Dick Grayson before the return of Bruce.
Also, we've deliberately sewn seeds through the continuity for characters to one day form an entirely new Teen Titans around Damian. They are characters purposely chosen to challenge Damian as a young man and a hero.
